Crazy Horse

The Durham Crazy Horse is one of the most adaptable distortion/fuzz pedals on the market today. Though the inspiraion for this pedal came from a legendary tone, it's versatility is nearly endless, because the controls required to obtain that classic tone also allow you to get just about any other distortion/fuzz tone you can dream up.

Controls and Features:

  • Drive: The Drive control feeds into the Fuzz control. With the Fuzz turned down the Drive works solely with the Tone, Volts, and Level controls
  • Fuzz: The Fuzz control feeds into the Tone and Level controls. With the Drive control turned down you are getting a pure fuzz effect. If the Fuzz control is turned all the way up craziness will occur. If the Drive control is brought up too the Fuzz will saturate and things will get even crazier. Playing with the balance between the Fuzz and Drive controls will will give you many hours of tonal satisfaction.
  • Tone: The Tone control works with all sections of the Crazy Horse. The Tone control at 12:00 o'clock should give you a neutral effect.
  • Volts: The Volts control works with the Drive control. Turned fully clockwise, the Drive is getting maximum voltage to the circuit. Turned counter clockwise, the Drive is being starved for voltage (when turning up/down there will be a slight delay for the effect to settle in).
  • Level: The Level control limits the output of the effect.
  • Power: The Crazy Horse uses a standard 9-volt negative-center power supply (not included), or a single 9-volt battery.

Mucho Boosto

The Mucho Boosto pedal was created by request of owners of the Sex Drive. This pedal picks up on GAIN where the Sex Drive left off. The Mucho Boosto IS based 100% around the Sex Drive circuit, with a few changes in the Gain, Tone and Compression.

The GAIN is obviously much higher. With the LEVEL up all the way, and the GAIN down, you can achieve Sex Drive “style” clean boosting, on a limited scale. The opposite, of course will give you the most gain all the way to violin style singing.

The TONE circuit is much more active than that of the Sex Drive, due to the more aggressive sound, and not going for transparency. The compression, well there is no compression setting, I opted for a NORM/FAT switch, to cover the tonal basis of all guitars that might be used. If the NORM setting seems very thin to you, try it on a hollow body guitar in the neck position, this should make sense to you .

• Totally hand built/wired

• Teflon wire throughout

• Not true bypass (as soon as there is a TPDT switch made that can withstand the test of time, I'll put it in. You know what I'm talking about if you have some of the boutique pedals on the market)

• Switch Craft jacks

• Carling switches

• Alpha full size potentiometers

• Really cool blue LED

• One year warranty

• Uses standard negative tip 9V DC supply (not included)

Sex Drive

Durham Electronics designed the SEX DRIVE pedal to fulfill the very particular needs of good friend Charlie Sexton (Bob Dylan, ARC Angels, David Bowie, Grammy winning producer, all around musician). The goal was to build a “clean-boost” pedal that would supply additional bottom end and sustain when needed. The pedal would have to provide a boost that would not alter the original quality of the amplifier's natural tone. Most important, was to not add a “nasal” tone like the other pedals in his effects graveyard. The result was the SEX DRIVE pedal. Though it wasn't my intention to go into production of effect pedals, the demand has been so overwhelming I found I had no choice".
