I've been using W.L. Van Zandt Strat pickups since 1995 when Kenny Blue Ray sold me my first set of True Vintage single coils. He was playing them as well. Over the years I forgot that Van Zandts were in my fave Strat and started telling people who asked that they were Fralins. That Strat recently developed a poor ground connection in the tone circuit, so I opened it up for repair and was reminded the pickups were Van Zandts. I ordered a new set of True Vintage from Music Toyz and was rewarded with the same tone that my fave Strat has with the 1995 set. I've not played any Strat single coils that have a sweeter, more musical top end in the neck pickup sound - it just sings. It's classic early '60s Stratocaster tone to my ears, and I have one for comparison.

I put this in the neck position on a Les Paul that is routed for P90's. I just angled it like a strat bridge pickup and screwed it into the cavity like Van Halen. Just had to get some small wood screws from the hardware store.
It has ended my search for a great sounding neck pickup .I have been playing 32 years and most of that time only used the bridge PU on any guitar cut the neck never sounded that great. These are cheep and sound soon good!
