  1. Good Overdrive 5 Star Review

Posted by on 16th Oct 2020

A good, under-the-radar overdrive. It doesn't have a "distinctive" or "different" sound, but that's a good thing as far as I'm concerned. It's a low- to medium-gain unit that offers a natural overdriven sound. In fact, I'm preferring the lower-gain settings but it will rock out if desired.

The one I got seemed to be new old stock as these haven't been made in a while. MusicToyz is selling them at a bargain price. On my unit the bottom plate screws were tight, possibly from sitting around for a while, so use care in removing them. I applied some light oil before putting them back in and that took care of the tightness. Internal construction looks excellent.

I find the double-action stomp setting to be tricky and not of much use to me, but I don't care about this function so it doesn't matter. I'm just using the pedal as a straight overdrive and don't need the boost. The clickless footswitch is a nice feature. Also, this pedal has a LOT of boost on tap and when you double-click to go into Ultra mode, even at the lowest boost setting there's a big volume increase, which you may or may not prefer.
