Gus G Signature Humbucker Pickup Set

Hard rock and metal guitarists no longer need to choose between the power of active pickups and the response of passive pickups. The Gus G. Fire Blackouts System blends the best aspects of both. This system combines the massive tone, kick, and distortion of Blackouts with the rich tone and expressive feel of my favorite passive pickups,” says Gus G., the exciting young guitarist just off the road with Ozzy Osbourne. “It responds perfectly to all my picking techniques, and more of my personality comes through than with any active pickup I’ve tried.”

AHB-1 Blackout

The "other" USA-made active humbuckers use unbalanced inputs in a differential preamp. The problem is, an unbalanced differential preamp is not very effective at cancelling hum. Our engineers figured out how to capture the tone that players want in an active design, but using balanced inputs. The result is 12dB to 14dB less noise, plus more lows, more highs, and more output. Simply put, Blackouts have more tone than other active pickups.

AHB-2 Blackout Metal

Blackouts Metal pickups are voiced for extreme heaviness. They are our highest output electric guitar pickups. Period. They have a screaming voice with amazing mid-range punch and they produce thick, dark chords, and hard-hitting leads. When you play extreme aggressive styles and you have to cut through above the other instruments in your band, Blackouts Metal are the call.

SH-1 '59 Model

The most important thing about the vintage Patent Applied For pickup was its warm, smooth tone and sustain that was unlike anything heard before. The SH-1 is built with the same kind of enameled wire, nickel-plated studs, and balanced coil windings that humbucker inventor Seth Lover used in his first pickups. It looks and sounds just like a '59. Single conductor cable is standard.

SH-2 Jazz Model

This pickup is for players who need an accurate, clear tone for fast jazz runs. The brighter sound has slightly less output and is a good match with most pickups. A popular combination is The Jazz™ in the neck with either a JB™ (SH-4) or Duncan Custom™ (SH-6) in the bridge. Four conductor cable

Recommended for Bridge position.

Alinico II Pro

After players heard the Alnico II Pro™ single-coil models, many asked for that same sweetness in a humbucker version. The only way to get that sound is to use the Alnico II musical magnets with a new coil winding. The result is a warm, sweet tone with more natural string vibration for great sustain. Four conductor cable.

SH-PG1 Pearly Gates

The original custom Pearly Gates™ pickups were wound for the famous '59 Les Paul® Standard that defined the raw, rebellious sound of Texas blues rock. Essentially a variation on the Patent Applied For sound, the Pearly Gates sound is sweet, but slightly rude, with great sustain and a bright top that make harmonics jump out of the guitar. Four conductor cable.

SH-55 Seth Lover

The SH-55 was designed jointly by Seymour and humbucker inventor Seth Lover. Just like the original 1955 P.A.F.s, the SH-55 utilizes a nickel silver bottom plate, butyrate plastic bobbins; plain enamel wire, an Alnico bar magnet, a wooden spacer, and black paper tape. The SH-55 uses a nickel silver cover instead of brass, which magnetically eliminates too much of the pickup's natural high-end tone. To be completely true to the original design and tone, the pickup is not wax potted. The tone is vintage P.A.F. The neck pickup will warm up even the coldest guitar. And the unpotted covers give the bridge pickup just enough boldness to break up early and really cut. Single conductor cable

SH-12 Screamin Demon Std

This pickup was designed in the Custom Shop for George Lynch . It has the big open sound of our '59 Model™ with a little less bite and a little more growl. The tone is big, percussive and still bites without being harsh. It uses alnico magnets and yields medium output.

SH-13 Dimebucker

If you've followed Pantera's rise to the top of the metal heap, then you're already well aware of the searing, crushing, metal massacre that is Dimebag Darrell's signature guitar tone. Now, that tone is yours with the SH-13 Dimebucker™. The Dimebucker uses a powerful ceramic magnet coupled with stainless steel blades for boot kickin' attitude. The secret to the Dimebucker's hard-hitting crunch is the small amount of metal mass in the core of the pickup. This allows the SH-13 to have both high d.c. resistance and a high resonant peak. The result is a high-output, aggressive humbucker with lots of treble bite and clarity, as well as punchy bass response and exceptional dynamics. The Dimebucker is perfect for heavy rock and metal; and it rocks equally hard with tube and solid-state amps

SH-14 Custom 5

The SH-14 Custom 5 pickup was developed by an eager group of contributors to our web user group who replaced the ceramic or Alnico 2 magnet in an SH-5 Custom or SH-11 Custom Custom with an Alnico 5. Tonally, the Custom 5 is a compromise between these two pickups. It offers the optimum balance of warmth, punch, power and clarity.
Compared to the SH-5 and SH-11, the tone is more vintage, with less distortion, but it's still very strong and powerful. It's fuller than an SH-5 with softer highs, more bass, and slightly less output. It's got a great rhythm sound and a beautiful, deep singing lead tone. Clean sounds are rich and full with enhanced presence. Think of the Custom 5 as a higher output SH-1 '59 with a deeper bottom end and expanded output.
