The Spin Archer

Walking the fine line between trem and Leslie, the Spin Acher is my ultimate tribute to this fabulous sound of rotating speakers. It is a high-gain light-activated device, with of course true by-pass switch, that can simulate this trem/leslie sound in monophony, which makes it very easy to use for home recording or low-budget gigs.
1- THE THREE STIGMATAS
I have learnt music in a Yamaha organ school. It is far from the fuzz-guitar-rock-scene but at this time I was an organ fanatic and a Jon Lord crazy fan. Yamaha fitted all their organs with a true rotary speaker. And Yamaha scene organ, used for town-to-town demo, played through huge Yamaha leslie-type cabinets. While not tubes, these cabinets were much more powerful than Leslie, and their sound still send shivers down my spine today. I had time to listen to them, and I have noticed 3 points that give these rotating devices their personalities:
- Doppler effect
- travel of sound
- sensation of power
The Doppler effect is impossible to mime without ugly digital processing AND stereophony. So we will have to do without.
But the Spin Acher achieves the 2 other attributes of the Leslie cabinet like no other trem device. You will really feel the powerful sound throwing at your ears and all this in mono which means easy to record or to perform. A nice stereo sound at home often ends small and flat on tape or on stage. The Spin Acher is engineered for optimal results in the worse conditions.
2- THE SPIN AND ROTOR POTS
With these two pots you can choose the speed of the rotating speaker and the time it stays in front of you. This is not possible with a real rotary speaker which revolving speed is constant. Here you can control the speed in different points of the circle, like long and away, long and near, short and away, short and near all selectable at different speeds.
3- HIGH GAIN
The Spin Acher can lightly distort the front of your amp for this tube-like strong tone. It works perfectly for organs or synths, giving their Hammond preset the serious they badly need.

The Spin Talker
The Sleep Talker is my vision of what an overdrive pedal should be. Do not expect another ts808/ts9 clone. This pedal is made to give the asking guitarist an essential live crunch tone, usually absent from any multi-effect/modelizer/distortion devices.
1- DEFINITION
"Crunch" is the tone you obtain on a real tube amp just before it breaks into distortion. It is not clean tone anymore but it still has a clear attack that will not qualify it as distortion. On vintage Marshall amps, this tone is surely obtained by maxing the amp and lowering the guitar pick-up volume. On tweed Fender amps, lucky owners usually know the exact position of every knob to tune in this wonderful tone. The use of vintage Fender treble pick-ups ( think ZZtop esquires ) is recommended.
2- "MODEL" DEVICES
I try everything. And my conclusion is always the same. While these modern tools are great for clean sounds or metal sounds, not one can produce a convincing crunch tone. Maybe some will disagree, but most of pro guitar players I know consider this statement as a given fact.
3- AND NOW, IT'S CRUNCH TIME
This where my pedal pops in: having a real crunch tone in a simple stompbox, usable with every amp or table top model box. I have A/B my famous JTM45 with The Sleep Talker feeding a no-name Japanese transistor amp in front of most demanding French guitarist and collectors. While most of them were pale of envy in front of this glorious amp, they all wanted to go away with the talker "to try it at home"!
