*NEW* Octron 2

Features
Octron2 is the limited-production version of the Foxrox Octron pedal. Since it's debut in April of 2005, the original Octron pedal has been hailed as a super-organic sounding, high quality analog Octave pedal. It's the only current-production boutique Octave pedal to offer both one octave Up and one octave Down.

In May of 2005 Frank Marino (Mahogany Rush) became one of the first Octron users, and he offered some great feedback on what he'd love to see in an Octave pedal. I took his suggestions and used them to make improvements in the original Octron, along with the suggestions of others and came up with something cool, new and unique - Octron 2.

What makes Octron2 different from the original Octron?
Octron2 is identical to the original Octron, with the addition of the following features-
- Individual foot switch to activate each of the three signals, Octave Up, Direct, and Octave Down.
- Individual LED for each of the three foot switches
- Master true-bypass foot switch w/LED mounted on upper level.
- Effects loop located after the effect, but before the foot switch.

How do you use Octron2?
There are a couple of different ways to use Octron2. I have been gigging with the prototype since July of last year, here are my suggestions:
- While bypassed, choose the mix you want. You can activate any combination of the three signals (Oct Up, Direct, Oct Down). When it's time for your solo, hit the bypass switch and you get the mix you wanted. Make sure you have at least one of the signals activated when you take the unit out of Bypass.. if you don't, the unit will mute and you'll be left with no signal!
- Activate the unit via the Bypass switch, and select only the Direct signal and leave it on. This will give you a clean, buffered signal with some available boost. When you want to add Octave Up, Down or both, just step on their associated switches.
- Use Octron2 as a Loop Switcher (see below).

Effects loop explained
The Send and Return jacks are located after Octron2's output, but before the True Bypass Foot switch. This allows you to patch, for example, a distortion pedal or Envelope filter into Octron2. This way, when you activate Octron2, you will also have the effects that are in Octron2's loop. And when you turn Octron2 off, those effects are removed as well. This makes it easy to get crazy-sounding solos without having to do a tap-dance with effects just to back to your original sound. When you consider that Octron2 allows you to set any combination of the three signals (Oct UP, Direct, Oct Down), just think about the possibilities you have with the Effects loop. You can put your lead pedals in the loop and still use Octron2 to activate them for leads even when you don't want octave sounds. Just select Direct and leave the Oct UP and Oct Down signals off.

Hot Silicon

For years people have been asking me about this..and I'm finally doing it!

The Foxrox "Hot Silicon Fuzz" is the same Hot Silicon previously available as a FuzzCard for Captain Coconut 2 only. It's my take on the original high gain silicon FuzzFace with some tweaks and improvements. Foxrox Hot Silicon Fuzz uses a pair of high-gain BC109C silicon transistors, just like many of the original silicon FuzzFaces, and all of the Crest Audio reissues from the late 80's.

More information coming soon. For now, take a look at some interesting FuzzFace pages from the past couple of years

Octron

Features

OCTRON is all analog, it's not a digital pitch shifter. You won't get that cheesy harmonizer sound. Instead, it's an organic analog effect that responds to your playing style/technique. And takes on a new life when you put it though other effects and crank it up! Octave up, down, clean with a little of each mixed... you can dial in just a hint of octave or you can make OCTRON your octave monster! (check out the clip below).

Octave Down - It's an octave divider in the tradition of Mutron/BOSS OC2/DOD Octoplus/etc... It tracks your dynamics and has more pre-divide gain and filtering. The result is probably the best tracking you'll ever get from an analog octave divider. Ultimately the tracking is most dependent on playing technique. Articulate playing tracks well, sloppy playing doesn't.

Octave up - It's a high gain circuit that uses a pair of germanium diodes to get the octave doubling effect. There's an internal drive/gain trimmer and a tone trimmer, so you can dial in octave sounds that range from pseudo-clean to screaming and bright. The upper octave is present at all parts of the neck, but it becomes most prevalent as you go up the neck on the high strings. Up around the 10th fret and higher you can get a pure upper octave.

ZIM

ZIM is like two separate pedals joined at the hip. The two channels can be configured a number of different ways depending on what ZIMcards are installed. The easy and convenient CardSWAP arrangement makes it easy for you to customize your ZIM to suit your needs. Unless you specify otherwise, you get your ZIM with the default Overdrive cards

ZIM - it's not the same as other overdrives. Instead of a bypass switch and a boost switch, ZIM has two individual channels which can be used individually or together in series (cascaded). Each has it's own true bypass (3pdt) switch w/ LED. This gives you three differenet sounds (A, B, or A + B). With the option of having two gain stages in series, you'll never be starved for gain.

Instead of a treble control, ZIM has a unique voicing circuit that gives you almost limitless control over your overdriven tone. In addition, each channel has it's own bass/treble trimmer which can be set internally.
