Celestion Eddie Van Halen G12EVH

These G12 replacement speakers drive the EVH 5150III amplifier to deliver ultimate Van Halen tone. They're the result of Edward Van Halen and Fender joining forces in an incredible collaboration.

Throughout his career, Eddie Van Halen has sought out original Celestion 20-watt Greenback speakers to load into his recording and performing rigs. So, when designing the EVH 5150III it was to Celestion that EVH and Fender turned in search of that vintage Greenback sound.

Celestion's Heritage Series G12 M speakers are a faithful reproduction of the original 1960s 20-watt Greenback and for EVH they provide the ideal solution. However—in order to give this speaker a look that is unmistakably EVH—a specially designed label, featuring the Van Halen logo and unique EVH striped design, along with a black-painted can that evokes the memory of the rare and much sought after Celestion "Blackback" speakers, were added.

Celestion Blue

The world's first dedicated guitar loudspeaker and a part of musical history. Back in the 1950s, Celestion witnessed the emergence of a new breed of musician – the electric guitarist – and responded to their needs for a rugged, reliable loudspeaker by modifying the G12 radio speaker. The unique tonal character of the Celestion Blue, combined with the valve amps of the time, helped to define the electric guitar as we know it today.

Variations of the Blue were actually released in several different liveries, including chrome, red and silver. Used by many classic amplifier manufacturers of the time, it was the speaker's adoption by Vox for their AC30 that ensured the Blue's place in history.

The Blue has a bright, lively character with a carefully controlled bottom end and shimmering highs which remains popular and distinctive to this day. Loaded into a single 12" or 2 x 12" cabinet, this legendary loudspeaker suits a wide range of playing styles.

Celestion Gold

Many other manufacturers have tried to recreate the Celestion Blue sound in a higherpowered driver, and some have come close. But only Celestion has the experience and know-how to emulate the tone and response of its own, Alnico classic in a modern driver that's perfect for single or multiple applications in cabinets or combos.

What limited the power handling of the Original Blue was the material used in the construction of the voice coil.

However, after hundreds of hours of testing and countless prototypes, Celestion has developed a new coil that can withstand higher levels of power but leaves the tone unaffected.

Such a relatively simple, yet important development, lies at the heart of a truly remarkable new guitar loudspeaker.

There finally here...... STOCK !

Vintage 30

The Vintage 30 resulted from Celestion's early steps to preserve the tonal characteristics of vintage speakers while using contemporary materials and construction techniques.

As the 1970s progressed and guitar amplifiers became more powerful, guitarists began to demand the tone of the Celestion Blue in a speaker that could handle more power. So in the early '80s, Celestion made pioneering use of Laser Doppler Interferometry to analyse the cone behaviour of an original Celestion Blue. We could then form a precise model of our vintage speaker characteristics and apply it to a speaker design using new materials for greater power handling.

The result was an instant classic. Seemingly twice as loud as anything else at the same power level, the Vintage 30 handles massive overdrive sounds with ease. Tight bass, fat mids and a smooth, harmonically rich top end have made the Vintage 30 an excellent 4 x 12" loudspeaker. Of course, it's also suitable for any other cab!

G12T-75

Released towards the end of the '70s, the G12T-75 heralded a new era of high power guitar loudspeakers.

The G12T-75 is seen by many as the ultimate incarnation of the original Celestion G12M model – a Greenback on steroids in the quest for higher power. With its aggressive and spiky tonal qualities, the G12T-75 has featured extensively in cabinets like the legendary Marshall 1960.

The best selling guitar speaker of all time, the G12T-75 is in fact remarkably versatile, staying clean at thunderously high volume levels. But it's in rock and metal that this speaker has really made its mark, with an emphasis on huge bass, relaxed mids and vibrant highs.

G12H

Re-released ten years ago for our 70th anniversary, the G12H evokes the sounds of the classic 1960s and '70s rock bands.

Loud and proud thanks to its heavy magnet structure, the G12H provides a fusion of the Vintage 30 and the Greenback characteristics, producing a thick, warm and syrupy sound while still retaining a tight and focused bottom end.

When played clean, the speaker remains clear and musical without ever sounding harsh. In overdrive, pick attack is vividly articulated with sustained notes trailing off into warm harmonic tones.

G12 M Greenback
Celestion's first guitar loudspeaker featuring a ceramic magnet structure, the G12M ‘Greenback' presented almost as much magnetic flux to the voice coil as an Alnico formulation, but in a much more compact space. As a result the Greenback became the guitar loudspeaker that paved the way for use with higher power amplifiers. And, of course, the ceramic magnet presented its own unique tonal characteristics.

The Greenback has a loud and assertive character that sounds great through a valve amp pushed into overdrive. The speaker has evolved over the decades and still presents that instantly familiar woody tone, delivered with a knockout punch.

Classic Lead
The Classic Lead is a fine example of the sonic characteristics of a loudspeaker evolving as new materials become available.

Revolutionary in the late '70s, a fibreglass voice coil former - capable of withstanding very high temperatures - was used to give the Classic Lead a muscular 80W power handling. This also increased barrel stiffness, affecting the way the cone vibrated and influencing cone break up. Then, through experimentation with edge treatments and continued critical listening, some modes were encouraged while others were suppressed, contributing to the speaker's unique sound.

Today, the Classic Lead is much-loved by lead guitarists for its speed, punch and articulation, with every note clearly defined on even big, distorted sounds.

The Classic Lead also sounds great clean, with that same articulation combining with high headroom to deliver a fluid, dynamic performance

G10 Vintage
The G10 Vintage is the natural evolution of the well-respected Vintage 10. Closer to the sound of the Vintage 30 than its predecessor, the G10 Vintage still maintains a distinctive tonal flavour of its own. All of these speakers use the same voice coil designs and similar ceramic magnet structures to achieve their familiar, hard-rocking Celestion sound.

Harking back to the original British rock invasion, the G10 Vintage provides a meaty 60W power handling with solid bass, muscular mids and an articulate top-end, making it perfect for anyone looking to upgrade the sound of an existing 2x10" or 4 x10". A particularly versatile performer, the G10 Vintage is also well suited for use in a single speaker cab.

Super 8
The Super 8 is especially designed to bring the Celestion signature sound to rehearsal combos - for those who will never compromise their sound.
