Approaching its fourth year of production, the Overdrive Supreme™ has received glowing reviews BOTH domestic and foreign publications. We recently received a very favorable review in Japan's “Guitar” Magazine, as well as Guitar Player Magazine (February 2005). Guitar Player Magazine said: “The Overdrive Supreme™ certainly takes you straight to a satisfying tone zone with it's unyielding clean response, and ability to remain detailed at very high gain levels. It also has that quality of being able to continue to inspire you the more you play. The Overdrive Supreme™ is available in power ranges from 20 through 150 watts. Available in heads or 112, 210 or 212 combos. The ODs features a full time effects loop which can handle both line and pedal level signals. It can be run in series or parallel modes, and remains live, whether used as a line out (to drive a mixer or sound system) or a line in (for guitar synth, keyboard, drum machine, etc.). A spacious Accutronics 3-spring long decay reverb pan is used for a natural warm, yet detailed reverb.
The clean channel has brite and deep switches, as well as a rock/jazz switch, which changes the way the tone controls operate. Rock is a more aggressive and punchy bright tone, which jazz is lean and audiophile-like, being more balanced and smooth. There are passive high mid and low controls. The high control pulls for a mid boost, the mid control pulls for gain boost (which bypasses the tone controls). The clean channel acts as a preamp to the overdrive channel, and the tone controls and EQ switches are all active during overdrive use, including all boosts. The overdrive channel features separate OD in and OD out controls. OD-in sets the level of saturation in overdrive, while the OD out control sets the final balance between clean and dirty channels. There is a global master volume, master reverb and accent control, which adds presence and edge to the output stage.
The entire audio signal path is fully tube (except reverb). The ODS features a regulated high voltage DC supply for lowest noise, consistent tone despite line voltage variations, and also features regulated DC preamp tube heaters for additional noise reduction. These techniques are used in the finest audiophile and tube studio equipment, and are unique to guitar amps.
The output stage features separate 4 and 8 ohm outputs, AC and standby switches, as well as a detachable IEC power cord and external fuse. The chassis is made of aircraft grade aluminum, finished in gold iridite for corrosion protection. We use a combination of point to point and circuit board construction. All tubes are chassis mounted, while the power and output transformers are mounted directly to the chassis. By using single point grounding, the amp is quiet and free of hum at all operating levels.
High current power transformers and audiophile grade output transformers are standard, and are custom built to our specifications.
The standard footswitch controls Overdrive and your choice of mid, gain or reverb (specify when ordering). Optional artist footswitches provide OD, Reverb, Mid and Gain Boosts (artist package) and OD, Mid, Gain, Reverb, FX bypass and mute (artist plus).

What's an SLX? : Recently, the ODS has gotten a revoicing. In conjunction with Scott Lerner, we re-approached the ODS after it's first three years of production. (All units after serial number 0300 are SLX). Previous units can be updated, contact your dealer or the factory for pricing.
The SLX update simply adjusts various tube operating points and equalizations within the clean and dirty gain structure of the ODS. A few lengths of critical cable are also replaced with high resolution video/digital cable, which opens and extends the high end response, while smoothing the midrange out. The basic circuit design is unchanged, but the result is great detail, more touch sensitivity and a sweeter yet detailed overdrive. Note bloom and touch response are more noticeable. A tube replacement may also be required, as our choice of tubes throughout the amplifier has been carefully chosen to produce the specific tones inherent in SLX amps.
Prices are list prices. Faceplates are available in Silver and Black finish and with black or crème knobs.
Fuchs Audio Technology combo amps and cabinets are now shipping standard with the new Eminence Wizard 12” guitar driver. These new speakers are part of the new Red Coat line from Eminence, and are designed to emulate the sound of the classic G12H-30 Celestion speaker, known for being one of the most popular most tonally balanced drivers for guitar. It features an English-made cone, on an American made stamped basket, with a 56 oz. magnet and 1.75” voice coil diameter. The Wizard is 103 db efficient, can handle 75 watts each, with 150W peak. These speakers are very articulate, but with a hint of grit. Nice sustain and exceptionally good tight bottom. 1x10 and 2x10 combos use Eminence “Ramrod” speakers.

Perhaps some of the most famous amps from New Jersey (besides ours!) were the Linden Ampegs and the legendary Trainwreck amps made by Ken Fischer in Colonia New Jersey. Ken Fischer was actually laughed at when he suggested a channel switching amp to owner Everett Hull at Ampeg! He eventually became legendary, by building a series of single channel non master volume amps under the Trainwreck name. Being from the N.Y, New Jersey area, I couldn't help but see, hear and service my share of Trainwreck amps over the years. Although I've built a great reputation for channel switching amplifiers, I've never lost my love for a good grinding rock and roll amp. Give me a Les Paul, a couple of hot naked humbuckers, an AC/DC riff or two through a nice 412 cabinet and I can be quite the happy camper!
Well, when I started the development of the Lucky 7™, and Blackjack 21™, I wanted to make a series of single channel non master style amps with a more rock and roll attitude than our ODS and TDS amps. This new series of amps offers that rock and roll tone and attitude in varying power levels. All models share a similar “in your face” attitude, at different power levels. I felt a fitting top-model in the series would be a traditional “wreck-style” amp that had both the EL-34 power and attitude to drag off to a gig and shake some people up. An amp that was clean to mean from both the guitar volume control and your hands, a simple, short signal path for maximum speedy response and hand-to-speaker transfer, and just plain simple to “grab and go.” I took the basic 3-gain stage circuit topology of the original Express, had the correct power and output transformers designed, and added a few circuit twists of our own to the mixture.
I've always believed in audiophile style circuit techniques to bring out the best in any tube circuit. Guitar amps are no different. I started with an audiophile style high voltage storage system. Instead of using single large capacitors, I used a group of smaller capacitors in a back. By using a bank of smaller capacitors ganged together to produce one large capacitance, you end up with a power supply that is both forceful yet agile. One that holds lots of energy for transients, yet can respond quickly to each and every note.
I then laid the amp out on a heavy fiberglass two-sided circuit board. The power and preamp tubes are off the board on premium grade sockets. I used extremely wide and heavy traces to emulate a hard wired amp. I made constant comparisons to both real Wrecks, many of the so-called Wreck-clones, and to my hard wired prototypes. I even used ground plane technology on the circuit board, which adds capacitance to select circuit traces like a wire would get from resting on a chassis. This warms up the tone, lowers noise, and keeps the circuits stable. I used single point star-type grounding to keep it ultra-quiet, and DC preamp tube filaments to wring the last ounce's of noise out of it, (no matter who's preamp tubes you use). Other than logically selecting the first preamp tube for lowest noise and crosstalk, the remaining preamp and driver tubes are non-critical. Like the high end ODS and TDS Fuchs™ amps it shares much of the same premium metal work including an aircraft grade aluminum chassis, and a cooling fan. By using many of the same components of our other products, we've kept this great tone affordable. The Train-45™ features a unique train logo with an LED “headlight”, which is super-bright and will never need replacement!
