Slant V6

The 40 watt Slant 6V offers an impressive range of legendary American and British tones, and unprecedented versatility and usable power without sacrificing the warmth, clarity and handbuilt, all-tube tone that are the hallmark of our amplifiers. At the heart of the Slant 6V are two independent, foot-switchable channels: Channel One bridges our shimmering clean tone with gutbucket, overdriven blues, while the dual gain settings on Channel Two offer pure tube crunch, soaring sustain and fluid dynamic response. The Slant 6V can be operated at half-power in cathode bias (18W) or fixed bias mode (22W), yielding tones reminiscent of early tweed and AC-style combos in cathode mode, and a punchier, more tightly defined sound in fixed bias mode. And at full power, the Slant 6V runs four 6V6 output tubes split in cathode and fixed bias pairs, placing every conceivable classic tube tone at your fingertips. An 80W 'Double Power Slant 6' is also available for players seeking even more headroom, power and punch.

  • Two independent foot-switchable channels
  • Channel one: classic clean to blues grit with reverb -Channel two: sixties crunch to screaming sustain (two gain settings)
  • 5AR4 Tube Rectifier
  • Unique dual bias output stage
  • At half-power settings, the Slant 6V uses either cathode bias, like early tweed and British AC style combos; the inherent natural compression delivers plentiful sustain and tasty harmonic distortion while giving the player super feel and control over the amp's dynamics; in the fixed bias setting, the amp acts more like modern American and British classics, delivering a punchy attack, more power, and a tighter sound
  • At full power, the Slant 6V uses four power tubes, two in cathode bias, and two in fixed bias; this truly unique feature combines the best of both worlds for a sound that is warm and rich, with plenty of depth and sweet harmonics, yet punchy and defined

  • Floating baffle board
  • 4, 8, and 16 ohm output impedance selector

Vinceroy !

The 33/7 watt Vinceroy is our newest dual 6L6, classically American amplifier designed to deliver a full range of clean and overdriven sounds for home, stage, and studio.

Features

  • Class A
  • Dual 6L6 output tubes
  • Two power levels: 33 or 7 watts
  • Unique variable drive control
  • Footswitchable fixed boost (lighted footswitch included)
  • Tube reverb
  • 100% hand wired
  • Solid pine dovetailed cabinet built in house
  • Eminence Wizard speakers

Description

The 6L6 Vinceroy is biased deeply into Class A, yielding a pushed, ready-to-jump feel. The vibe from The Vinceroy is explosive and forward-tilting. It distorts very well in a large curd Tweedish way when cranked, and the clean tone is gorgeous and dimensional. The 1x12 is wonderfully compact.

Features include reverb, two power levels (33 or 7 watts), a variable drive control (internal clean boost which gives the amp more push and OD when the amp is turned up - you can hear more of the winding on strings and dynamic, super twang), and a footswitchable fixed boost (partial tone stack bypass) which greatly increases midrange punch and yields a wonderful grind. The resulting volume increase is just right for a solo, or if the amp is really overdriving, it thickens and adds sustain. Lighted footswitch included.

Controls include volume, treble, mid (with panel on/off for boost), bass, reverb, drive, and

Mercury !

Our newest amplifier inspires visions of a classic cabinet design from a time long ago, but within the chassis of the Mercury you'll discover an inspiring and truly innovative circuit (along with utterly remarkable tone.) While it is true that your friends, band mates and family members will admire the Mercury for its good looks and 'polite' power rating, Mercury owners seem to cherish our newest amp for many other practical reasons. Our exclusive power attenuating circuit enables the Mercury to be played at 8, 2, 1/2 and only 1/10 watts, with no appreciable change in tone, yet the Mercury easily yields enough clean headroom for club work. Add our renowned reverb circuit, a 3-position boost switch for subtle-to-intense output tube distortion, plus the incomparably thick and rich tone of a single KT-66 power tube, and the Mercury will earn its rightful place among your most treasured instruments.

  • Class A
  • Single-ended fixed bias KT-66 output stage
  • Single channel: bass, treble, reverb
  • 3-position boost switch
  • Treble cut switch
  • Built in 4 position attenuator (8, 2, 1/2, 1/10 watt)

Weight: 35 lbs.

Special thanks to Eric Cummins head salesman of Willcutt Guitars in KY for suggesting we persue a low powered amp design.

NOTE: From this point forward (8/1/04) we will be shipping Mercury amps with JJ brand EL-34s instead of KT-66 tubes. We have been having trouble with reliability, consistency, and availability of KT-66 tubes. I have spent the last few months evaluating alternate choices and the EL-34 is my favorite - in fact I prefer it to the KT. Best, Steve Carr

Rambler !

Long before the birth of Carr Amplifiers, I spent years playing, repairing, modifying and intently listening to classic guitar amps. The Rambler was one of my earliest signature designs, and today it is still one of our most popular models. Why? It's no accident that the Rambler succeeds in delivering classic American 'deluxe' tone with dramatically expanded clean headroom, solid bass response and the option of 28 watt pentode or 14 watt triode operation. The Rambler simply reflects my desire to improve and refine the original concept of an appropriately powered 1x12 club amp with reverb and tremolo. Rambler owners describe their amps as being warm, full and round, with a surprisingly high threshold of clean tone, (which also makes the Rambler uniquely suited to virtually any overdrive pedal ever built). The Rambler is considered by many to be the quintessential club amp, voiced to meet the needs of virtually any player, and all types of music.
