Just Arrived From Earthquaker! – The Chrysalis is an all discrete, transistor based overdrive aimed at capturing the recorded sound of 70’s era rock. That’s right, not the sound of a vintage amp but the sound of a vintage amp as heard on a record. An “amp-on-a-record-in-a-box” if you will. It’s voiced with an emphasis on the midrange which makes it cut in a live band scenario yet it still has a lot of texture in the low end. Never flabby, full of organic life and presence which helps push the guitar forward with loads of clarity and harmonics. It’s not an over the top high gainer, it’s more natural in it’s break up and it just sounds vintage. The Chrysalis really shines when the gain is dimed and the amp is cranked.

Chickenfoot has arrived – is this a supergroup, a cult, a silly name or just a throwback kick ass rock band ? The members are all super stars going on past 25 yrs Joe Satch, Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony, and the man between the pipes on drums Chad Smith. What it really is I think is 4 guys playing the music they love and grew up with, it’s very Zep based, very party rock, just very in your face kick ass bar room rock-n-roll ! I think they just would hang out and play Cabo at Sammy’s place never leave and be quit happy to just rock it ! Great drums, great guitars, its fun to hear Satch with a great vocalist ! The incredible Ben Lacey – one of the forumites emailed me a youtube link of the incredible Ben Lacey playing Cashmere by Zeppelin which is just incredible. But the poster non-enabled the embed tags so I couldn’t post here, I did post a clip of him doing Stevie Wonder so you will get the idea.
