The Birth of Hardcore – I had thought about posting a rant about this weeks ago and passed because it was so close to my heart. The movie American Hardcore came out in Sept and is an expose of the American Hardcore Punk scene of the 80s. As Henry Rollins says if someone told you the story you would just say “Ohh your making it up”. He pauses and then states “No I’m not” and I have to back him up I was there. As I look back at 20 to 25 yrs later I don’t want to come off as some old guy “Oh those where the days” type thing. Menatone Top Boost in a Can ! - The 6 knob model has finally arrived of the new and improved Top Boost in a Can by Menatone. The new model has a nice battery door for easy access which is nice. It has tonal and gain controls with a cool sag control ! There are two footswitchs one on/off and the other to further boost your signal. Deregulators – great recording of a heavy riff band that resembles STP at its height. Powerful voice, great articulation, and no grunting, no whining and not whimpy like a lot of other new heavy bands, no shrieking, just solid vocals. And real melody. The guitars are big, they growl, they are not shrill or harsh like a lot of other bands. And the playing is great, the production is big and strong and adds mystery.
