Janes Addiction Inventor of Alt ?

Janes Addiction - In the late 80s music was caught in a dreadful sea of spandex and hair spray. I saw Jane's on the Jersey Shore and within 30 secs I felt a religious experience of being saved. The intensity, musicianship, showmanship, forget it - it was the whole package. The first few albums and tours where magical; before egos, drugs and Lollapalooza ripped away the core. In my mind, they were the inventors of Alt Music 5 years before Nirvana broke. Say what you want about guitarist Dave Navarro but the guy had chops at 20 we all wish we had.
